Riding for a Cause: Team KPI
Conquers La Boucle 2024

June 28, 2024

The KPI Digital and KPI Mining teams recently had the privilege of participating in La Boucle 2024, a truly amazing experience that went beyond just a 135km bike ride. Starting at the Pont du Québec on June 15th, we joined cyclists from across the province for a non-competitive ride in support of a meaningful cause.

The energy at the starting line was contagious, and the picturesque route along the South Shore, with its refreshing river air and stunning scenery, provided the perfect backdrop for our journey. The encouragement we received from the welcoming communities we passed through fueled our determination, and each town we cycled through was a reminder of the incredible support and camaraderie that define La Boucle.

The final stretch towards Lévis was filled with anticipation, and the vibrant atmosphere of the Grand Défi Village at Université Laval, our final destination, was nothing short of exhilarating. Crossing the finish line together was a moment of immense pride and joy, as we celebrated not only our individual accomplishments but also our collective effort towards supporting the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie Foundation.

Participating in La Boucle 2024 allowed us to contribute to the foundation’s mission of promoting active lifestyles and funding research into rare hereditary diseases. It was a testament to our commitment to fostering a healthy work-life balance and giving back to the community.

As we reflect on our experience, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to have participated in this incredible event. It was a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of supporting one another. We eagerly anticipate next year’s event and the chance to once again ride together for a great cause.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. Your encouragement and generosity made this journey even more special. We look forward to continuing our commitment to promoting healthy living and community support.

Team Experiences and Memorable Moments

Hugo Soligon:
“I had never ridden as part of a group before, which was so different from riding solo. And meeting so many interesting people along the way was amazing! Getting to spend time with my teammates outside of work and training, celebrating what we had accomplished together, and even having our partners join in, made it even more special. Honestly, it was such a great experience. The whole event was incredibly well-organized, with plenty of breaks along the route and a real focus on making sure everyone was safe. I couldn’t have asked for more! A truly unforgettable experience, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!”

Carly Cohen: “Starting on the Pont de Québec with thousands of other cyclists was truly a surreal experience. Throughout the ride, we pushed each other through the rough patches, making sure no one was left behind. We had a couple of close calls where we almost lost Alain and Hugo, but we managed to stick together. Daniel was Mr. Steady, staying strong the whole time. From training for the ride and doing the Montreal Tour de l’Île to celebrating with everyone and their partners afterward over food and beers, the entire experience was the perfect way to end this unforgettable journey. Definitely a ride to remember.”

Alain Loriet: “When I first registered for La Boucle a month ago, I thought it was just going to be a sports challenge. Afterwards, I realized that there were many more aspects to this event. It has been a great experience that is definitely worth repeating.Preparation was a key aspect, especially the training. During our first prep meeting, we all felt that we might not have enough training and that the 135 km ride would be very rough. Then each of us did our own training, and on the day of the event, we realized we were doing fine.

Another highlight was the team-building aspect of this event. Seeing colleagues outside of work is a great way to get to know each other better. Riding together as a team helped me focus and not worry too much about the distance we had to cover.

Meeting on the bridge was a bit chaotic, but we eventually got off to a good start! We tried our best to stick together, despite a few minor hiccups like a broken bottle holder and a lost bike pump (both recovered!). The weather was perfect, and the festive atmosphere along the route was amazing. Crossing the finish line together was incredible, and the celebratory dinner in Old Quebec with family and friends was the perfect ending to an unforgettable weekend.”
